About Us

aspex is more than a gallery, it’s a space for questions – creating conversations and cultivating connections.

Formed in 1981 in Brougham Road, Southsea, aspex moved to the historic Vulcan Building in Gunwharf Quays in 2006. Our seasons are based around questions – for example, Does Making Things Make Us Human? or What’s Your Revolution? Exhibitions, talks and participatory events are programmed around these questions, helping us explore possible answers with the help of our audience. This website has been designed with conversation in mind – comments are encouraged on events and blog posts.

We are open 7 days a week between 11-4, except Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
