Be My Guide Tonight
Gallery2
Adam Bridgland
27 April - 5 June 2011

welcomes back its ‘favourite leisure time artist’ for a solo exhibition of charmingly kitsch and humorous, yet equally poignant work.

Adam Bridgland embraces the everyday object, finding inspiration in colouring books, travel guides and scout camping paraphernalia. Adam’s work rejoices in the mundane and investigates the notion that holiday-making is just another ordinary everyday activ ity, and a fantasy that rarely lives up to our expectations.

Be My Guide Tonight will feature an exciting selection of new work in a wide range of media, including prints, embroidered patches and an enamel plaque alongside sculptures, neon and a hand-painted wall mural.

A limited edition, canvas bag featuring specially commissioned designs by Adam Bridgland has been produced to coincide with the exhibition and help celebrate ’s 30th anniversary. The bags are available to buy from the gallery shop while stocks last.

Since graduating from his Masters in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art in 2006, Adam has lived and worked as an artist in London and exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Asia and America. In July 2009 Adam was awarded his first major public art commission by Futures Community College in Southend and Commissions East and has recently completed a special pop up exhibition for the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.
