Film Screening
Thursday 10 March, 6pm
Admission FREE
Originally planned to screen last December, but cancelled due to the heavy snowfall, Beyond Surveillance will be shown at this Thursday.
A collection of art works developed in response to & in counteraction against surveillance technologies, the film will be followed by a panel of speakers discussing the consequences of & alternatives to surveillance in our daily life.
As surveillance technologies become more ubiquitous - from CCTV to data-mining on websites to mobile phones to Google streetcar - does it not become ever more important to consider the implications & to develop creative, radical responses, counteracting & reversing acts of surveillance?
Artist & curator Manu Luksch has selected several artists’ film & video works which explore differening aspects of re-activism to surveillance technologies. Artists include David Valentine, Caspar Below, The Bureau of Inverse Technology & Michelle Teran.
