David Barber has had a passion for cinema and cinemas since he first visited one aged 6.  He was particularly captivated by the “Magic aura” and “Utter luxury” of the art deco architecture and interiors, which were once common place in Portsmouth and Southsea during the industry’s ‘golden age’. He studied and remembered almost every detail of the picture palaces and now turns his memories into miniature reproductions. This exhibition in Gallery 2 showcases these fascinating models of local cinemas lovingly reproduced from memory in card.
