POMPEY TALKS POMPEY from Aspex Gallery on Vimeo.

Yes, that’s right, the much talked about Pompey Talks Pompey, the beautifully made  Annis Joslin film commissioned by ourselves is finally available to view, in full, online at Vimeo. It originally premiered at the “What’s Next For Culture in Portsmouth?” conference, held at the New Theatre Royal in 2012. I’ll leave it to Paul from Strong Island to give you a brief synopsis…

“The film is centred around a tour around the city in the back of a taxi where the filmmaker is introduced to the city’s places, people and uncovers aspects of its cultural identity. The film received a very warm welcome at the conference and was screened in the gallery for some time after”

We are delighted to bring it to a wider audience – what do you think about the views expressed in the film? Do you agree? Do you think Portsmouth is unique? Does it vary from area to area? Does our island mentality make us that little bit different? What does “culture” even mean to you…does it mean arts and theatre, or can it be anything the reflects our identity? Take a look above, then why not get stuck into the debate in the comments section below…
