SIX SACRED SITES: Artists' Book Project
Ansuman Biswas, Glenn Boulter, Chris Maxted, Ashley McCormick, Stuart Mugridge, Jimmy Symonds, Sam Winston, Zana Wood
23 February - 18 March 2007Responding to sites as different as a Mosque, a Hindu Temple and contemporary, spontaneously created roadside shrines, the artists have explore the meaning of the sacred in all its historical and cultural diversity. We are richly rewarded by their work which includes Sam Winston's silent play on words, Ansuman Biswas' songs of an architectural journey and Boulter and Maxted's quasi-archaeological survey of the invisible.
Six Sacred Sites is an Art and Sacred Places project in partnership with aspex, Hampshire Sculpture Trust and The Winchester Gallery. Six Sacred Sites is supported by ACE SE, Hampshire County Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council and Winchester City Council.
