Aspex successfully gains Arts Council England funding for the next four years

We are pleased that Arts Council England (ACE) has recognised the value of our work by continuing our status as a National Portfolio Organisation.

This commitment from Arts Council England has demonstrated their support for Aspex’s artistic and educational programmes - valuing both our support for emerging artists nationally and internationally and our work to engage local audiences in Portsmouth and beyond.

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Drusilla Moody said:

"Aspex Visual Arts Trust is delighted that Arts Council England continues to recognise the important work we do. The board are very proud of the Aspex team, who are committed to delivering an extraordinary quality of work, on top of educational experiences.

Retaining National Portfolio Organisation status enables the organisation to continue its important work, enriching Portsmouth and the the surrounding area's cultural and creative environment. Thank you to Arts Council England".

Cllr Linda Symes, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said:

"I'm really pleased that Arts Council England is continuing to support Aspex.  It plays a significant role in the city's cultural and artistic landscape as well as delivering educational opportunities to help bring visual art to the community and support up and coming artists."

The investment of nearly half a million pounds, set at £112,117 per year from 2018-2022 will enable Aspex to continue to support the development of the contemporary visual art sector in Portsmouth and the surrounding region.

This support from Arts Council England plays an important role in unlocking cash and in-kind support from other sources and sectors, including corporate partners and charitable trusts and foundations.

The organisation looks forward to contributing to an increasingly vibrant cultural offer, and connecting with more people over the coming years.
