Deadline Monday 19 April
To celebrate our 40th anniversary Aspex is launching a programme of four new digital artworks which will be shared on our new website when it launches later this year. Aspex (life begins) at 40 features new artworks by artists Bettina Fung*, Hardeep Pandhal, NT and Jaf Yusuf, responding to Aspex’s 40 year archive of exhibitions, projects and events since 1981 and simultaneously reflecting on prevalent issues and concerns in 2021.
To accompany the programme of artworks, Aspex is commissioning a series of online resources to engage children, young people and families. We want to create exciting and engaging experiences that reach broad and diverse audiences, and support people to develop their own creativity. These digital resources will be available for families to access and use at home alongside the artworks and will enable children/ young people/ families/ learning groups to explore themes and ideas in more depth.
We have three commission opportunities, each at £220, for artist educators to design digital resources. We want to engage a broad spectrum of ages and abilities, including people with special educational needs or disabilities, and would like you to think about the target audience for your resource. As well as the creative activity/activities and the design/format, this should be presented in your application.
Each of the resources should engage with one of the new artist’s works, providing children and families with further understanding of the artist and the artwork; responding to its context and acting as a tool of activation and extension for audiences to explore their own creativity. As well as more traditional visual art activities, resources could play with alternative ideas such as having experimental, physical or sensory elements to meet a variety of audience needs.
